Honours and Awards:
1. The NCC was introduced with the vision to provide secular, united and disciplined citizens for the future India. With the passage of time, the NCC personnel achieved historic feats and did exceptional acts, which needed to be commended and elevated at the national level. For this purpose the following awards were instituted in order to not only provide recognition to NCC personnel but also to motivate others to emulate.
- Raksha Mantri's padak : Awarded by Raksha Mantri.
- Raksha Mantri’s : Awarded by Raksha Mantri.

2. While the Defence Secretary’s Prashansa patra and the DG NCC’s Prashansa Patras were instituted in 1984, the Raksha Mantri’s Padak and Raksha Mantri’s Prashansa Patras were started in 1989.
3. The following category of NCC Personnel are elilgible for these awards:
- NCC Whole Time Officers.
- Associate NCC Officers (ANOs)
- Under Officers Instructors & Sergent Major Instructors.
- NCC Cadets (both boys and girls)
4. These awards are given to individuals who perform exceptional act involving courage, devotion to duty and any contribution of lasting value to the organization and the one which brings glory and fame to the NCC. The highest award if Raksha Mantri’s Padak. These awards are announced on the NCC Day which falls on the last Sunday of the month of November, every year and are given by the Hon’ble Raksha Mantri during his visit to the Republic Day NCC Camp.
* Commission in Armed Forces as Officer in Army/ Navy/Air Force and its Branches.
* Recruitment in the Three services as Soldier/Rating/Airman.
